Regulars going back in time as fine old pubs defy mass closures

MORE pubs than ever are closing down but these unique nowand-then photos prove that some treasured watering holes have stood the test of time.

Many have been serving punters for hundreds of years, defying the fact that nearly 400 boozers shut up shop for good in England and Wales in the first half of 2023 - almost as many as in all of 2022.

Landlords say their success is down to their loyal regulars and the ability to change with the times.

Drinkers helped to recreate shots of their favourite boozers from years past, showing that while modernisation is inevitable, other aspects remain remarkably the same.
