Resilient Scots stop legend from doing any damage

SCOTLAND stopped Cristiano Ronaldo - and their losing streak.

Portugal skipper Ronaldo started his first game at Hampden on the day he won his 216th cap, but couldn't find a winner.

This was a resilient effort from Steve Clarke's side, who clung to a clean sheet under severe pressure from Portugal's dominance of the ball.

After four defeats in a row, this was a creditable show to halt the decline and they had their own chances early on to get a win.

True, it's still a record ten competitive games without a win, and just one win in 16 dating back 13 months, but you can't scoff at a scrambled draw against a side as elite as Ronaldo and Co.

Clarke demanded his players keep believing.

The results may have been dreadful but the players have been competitive, and often undone by late goals.
