BRITAIN'S seaside towns turned into snow-go areas yesterday after the country shivered through the coldest night of winter so far.
The Met Office said the mercury dipped to -8C in Manchester, -7C in Birmingham and -6C in London.
The lowest temperature was -11.1C in the village of Shap, Cumbria.
The beach in Bridlington, East Yorkshire - like many others - was covered in snow while skaters used a frozen lake in Upware, Cambridgeshire. A 35-day-old cygnet took a walk on a frozen lake at Sefton Park in Liverpool.
And swimmers had to break the ice for their early morning dip in The Serpentine in London's Hyde Park.
