Everything he touched has worked at Anfield so far and Van Dijk praises boss Slot for seamless transition from Kop hero Klopp
JOHN CROSS
THE MIDAS DUTCH

VIRGIL VAN DIJK says Arne Slot was the "perfect" choice to follow Jurgen Klopp.

Incredibly, Slot has now won 18 of his first 20 games in charge across all competitions and taken Liverpool nine points clear at the top of the Premier League.

The Reds' transition since Slot took over from Klopp has been seamless and the Dutchman is rightly winning all the plaudits for his remarkable start at Anfield.

But Van Dijk has also pointed to the dressing room spirit which Slot inherited and says the club were right to appoint a manager who did not want to tear up all the foundations.

The Anfield captain said: "It was always going to be difficult to replace Jurgen for everything he did for us, as players and for the club.

"But Arne Slot has come in, done it his own way together with the staff, and started working and making sure we have the quality to improve and win games.
