ENGLAND have admitted the manner of their defeat to New Zealand has left them with questions to answer over their defence of the World Cup.

A nine-wicket walloping, with more than 13 overs to spare, is as bad a start as they would have feared, and it leaves their aura of dominance on shaky ground.

Their opponents on Tuesday are a Bangladesh side they dismantled in a warm-up match, but also one who have beaten England in two of the last three World Cups, in 2011 and 2015.

It makes for a high-stakes contest with England confident of being able to bounce back and determined to show that early reports of their demise are greatly exaggerated.
