From Wild Deer To Fallen Sofas... How Traffic Control Dealt With Almost 11,000 Events In 2024

Traffic Wales staff dealt with a wide range of issues on trunk roads like the A55, A494 and A483 from their North Wales traffic management centre in Conwy. The busiest day with the most traffic using the network came on August 30.

In early December Storm Darragh prompted a 200 per cent increase in the number of calls to Traffic Wales. The experts rounded off the year with a plea to drivers to maintain their vehicles properly as some breakdowns, for example, are preventable.

Traffic Wales staff at the traffic management centres in North and South Wales, the North and Mid Wales and South Wales Trunk Road Agents, and traffic officers on the ground say they supported road users across over 1,000 miles of trunk roads, ensuring safety and minimising delays.
