1600 KIDS DENIED BY CASH CAP

THE SNP candidate in a crunch by-election yesterday blasted Labour after the full impact of the two-child cap on benefits on the local constituency was revealed.

Katy Loudon hit out after analysis by her party found that 1620 children in Rutherglen and Hamilton West are affected by the Tory policy.

It means 320 youngsters are not considered eligible for a Universal Credit child element, while 180 could miss out on child tax credits, depriving them and their siblings of cash.

Keir Starmer faced a backlash last month after he refused to commit to scrapping the two-child cap if Labour wins power at next year.
