Tributes paid at funeral of Scots legend

THE football world paid its respects to Scotland legend Gordon McQueen when he was laid to rest yesterday.

Famous faces joined family and friends at the funeral of the defender who lost his battle with dementia, aged 70, on June 15.

The service took place at St Mary's Cathedral, in Middlesbrough, but his love for his homeland shone through, with his coffin draped in a saltire adorned by a wreath of thistles and one of his 30 Scotland caps. His hearse was piped to the cathedral.

Former Scotland. manager Gordon Strachan, who played with Gordon at Manchester United during the 80s, was in attendance, as was another former Man United teammate, Bryan Robson.
