Multi-storey blaze sparked by 4x4

A LAND Rover burst into flames at Luton Airport and sparked an inferno that caused chaos for up to 50,000 passengers.

Video footage showed the 4x4 on fire before the blaze tore through the Terminal Car Park Two and caused millions of pounds of damage.

Witnesses told how they feared a plane had crashed after flames engulfed the £20million building, causing the top floor to collapse on Tuesday evening.

People inside the building ran for their lives as the fire spread from one vehicle to the next.

Up to 1500 vehicles were thought to have been in the car park at the time, Holidaymakers were forced to sleep on the floor as planes were diverted and operators axed flights.
