BOXING DIDN'T KILL DAD

TRAGIC boxer Willie Limond's heartbroken son has spoken about losing his hero dad and insists he was not killed by his ring comeback.

Jake Limond says his death from a suspected seizure was "random" and had nothing to do with numerous head blows during his stellar ring career.

And he said the pain of losing his dad had made him more determined than ever to succeed in his own boxing career.

The fighter, 20, told of the moment he found out his dad Willie, 45, had suffered a seizure in April.

He said: "I was training a boy then I got a call on the gym's phone. They said it was the police and I thought, 'Oh, this is a bit heavy.

"They were phoning me to tell me they had my dad.

"I said, 'What are you talking about?' They said he was taken unwell and I asked if he was all right and they just said he had been taken to hospital. It was confusing. He was dead fit. He was looking well one minute and then all of a sudden took unwell. Completely random. That's the only word I can use to describe it, random."
