A COMEDY club has backed down after it cancelled an MP's show over her views on trans issues.

The Stand in Edinburgh apologised to Joanna Cherry and will now host the event.

Bosses admitted axing the Fringe gig had been "unlawful discrimination against Cherry.

AN Edinburgh comedy club has staged a dramatic U-turn and apologised to an SNP MP for cancelling her show because of her views on trans issues.

The Stand admitted its decision to axe a one-woman Fringe show with Joanna Cherry amounted to "unlawful discrimination".

Management at the venue part-owned by Cherry's SNP MP colleague Tommy Sheppard cut the In Conversation show this month after staff said they did not want to work at an event featuring Cherry.
