A SCOTTISH Premiership club has announced the departure of a player after he was charged with assault.

CHIP SHOP ASSAULTS RAP STAR QUITS CLUB

St Mirren star Shaun Rooney allegedly assaulted a woman at a Glasgow takeaway.

The 28-year-old defender has also been charged with breach of the peace involving an 18-yearold male outside the chip shop in Queen Street in the alleged incident on September 19.

Police said this charge was being treated as a hate crime and Rooney would appear before Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date.
