Cameron slams the Conservatives over Brexit. And brands their policies ‘assault on devolution'. Now she's accused of 'jaw-dropping hypocrisy

LISA Cameron has been accused of "hypocrisy" after leaked footage showed her blasting Tory policies days before her defection from the SNP.

The turncoat blasted "Westminster austerity", hit out over Brexit and accused the Tory government of an "assault" on devolution in outspoken attacks at a meeting of local members.

She also said: "I want to work for Team SNP. I want to bring everybody together."

Cameron jumped ship to the Tories after claiming she had been bullied within the SNP Westminster group.

But a recording of a candidate hustings just two weeks ago, leaked to the Daily Record, showed her slamming the Tories.

Labour's Shadow Scottish Secretary Ian Murray said: "It is jaw-dropping hypocrisy to join a party you railed against mere weeks before."

She blasted post-Brexit Tory legislation which the SNP Government says has undermined devolution, adding: "I think with the Internal Markets Bill is another assault on devolution and Brexit was pretty much the same.

"People in Scotland voted to Remain in the EU and we've been dragged out of the EU, with all of the benefits."

She also repeatedly banged the independence drum in her pitch to local members, saying: "The main thing that binds us together as a party is independence.

She added: "I think another aspect of our move towards independence is reaching out to people, no matter your background, no matter your views on the SNP or independence is showing that we're credible.

Despite now being in favour of the Union, she told the hustings her priority was independence - followed by the cost-of-living crisis.
