First Minister insists scrutiny of Government is 'right'

HUMZA Yousaf has pledged to cooperate fully with a public inquiry examining the Scottish Government response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The First Minister paid tribute to all families who lost loved ones to Covid-19 and said it was "absolutely right" that government decisions were scrutinised.

The SNP leader was speaking on a visit to Glasgow yesterday while a preliminary session of the inquiry was taking place in Edinburgh.

Those who lost relatives to the virus were among the audience at Murrayfield Stadium.

The inquiry opened with an 11-minute video featuring photographs of those who had died from Covid-19.

Formal hearings will take place from October 24 to December 14 and will hear testimonies from those adversely affected by the health and social care response to the pandemic.

Speaking yesterday, the First Minister said: "My sympathies are with every single family that has suffered a bereavement as a result of Covid.
