THE first known victim of murderer and rapist Lain Packer has slated police and blamed a "cover-up" for the delay in bringing him to justice.
Magdalene Robertson was raped by Emma Caldwell's killer in 1990, when she was 15, but had to wait almost a quarter of a century to see justice.
Now 48, she waived her right to anonymity and yesterday gave evidence at the Scottish Parliament about her experience of making a formal complaint against police.
Magdalene hit out at the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC), which handles complaints made against the force, and suggested it should be scrapped to stop an "old boys' network" looking after their own.
She is now considering launching a civil action against Police Scotland.
Magdalene was assaulted by Packer over a two-year spell in the early 90s. She told family at the time but was ignored.
