Lawless: Club took their time but we both knew I wanted to stay
DEAL OR SLOW DEAL!

JAGS joker Stevie Lawless quips he was scratching his head when a new deal was dished out to his 36-year-old skipper and team-mates while he hadn’t been handed a pen.

But the Partick Thistle stalwart says his answer was a given once boss Kris Doolan popped the question having “loved it being back at the club”.

Third-placed Thistle head to second-top Raith tonight looking to make it five wins in a row and move within three points of the top.

Lawless last week followed stalwarts including Brian Graham, Aidan Fitzpatrick and Harry Milne in committing longer term, signing a two-year extension to 2026.

That will take him to 10 years’ service and, with tongue firmly in cheek, the 32-yearold said: “I’m actually surprised it took them as long. They were handing out deals at the start of the season!

“Listen, I knew it would come. And I just knew, soon as it was coming, I was going to sign anyways so I’m happy to get it done.
