DEATH BY A THOUSAND CUTS

A SHOCKING proposal to cut £22million from vital care services will "put lives at risk".

The savage cuts are revealed in a leaked from document Glasgow's Health and Social Care partnership.

The plan includes wiping £3.5million from OAP care home places, losing £3million for social care and cutting funding for drugs rehab.

Officials behind the proposals even admit they will have "serious implications for health and wellbeing".

Labour MSP Paul O'Kane said: "These cuts would put people's lives at risk.

"The SNP government's empty promises to improve social care and prevent drug deaths have been left in tatters."

End of the lifeline

£22m council cuts plan will put lives at risk, devastate services to help addicts and slash social care beds for the elderly, say critics

A LEAKED document warns plans to slash £22million from care services "will have serious implications for the health and well-being of these service users and their families."

The shock proposals from Glasgow's Health and Social Care partnership include: £3.5million wiped out of the city's budget for OAP care home places.

£3million slashed from the "self-direct" social care budget.

A specialist service for children from addict households axed to save £600,000.

A cut in funding for rehab for addicts, despite Scotland's drug death crisis.

Officials at the city's Health and Social Care Partnership - which brings together the council and other service providers - admit in the document that the proposed cuts would have a "significant impact" on families across the city.
