DEREK MCINNES is prepared to play the waiting game as he looks to give his Kilmarnock squad a greater cutting edge this season.

The Rugby Park gaffer has signed seven players so far this summer - keepers Will Dennis and Kieran O'Hara, defenders Robbie Deas, Corrie Ndaba and Stuart Findlay, midfielder Kyle Magennis and winger Matty Kennedy.

McInnes admits strengthening his strike force to provide support and competition for main frontman Kyle Vassell is now his priority.

"The forward areas will be key," he said. "We're working around the clock to get the best forwards that we can. We could easily have signed forwards by now and made us feel good about ourselves short-term, but we're trying to get the best ones possible.
