DO THE RIGHT THING, CELTIC

A MAN who was beaten and sexually abused by shamed Celtic Boys Club manager Frank Cairney has called on Celtic Football Club to "do the right thing".

The survivor, who can only be identified as Andy, spoke out after a US-style class action lawsuit was filed against the Parkhead side by around 25 child sex abuse victims.

At a Court of Session hearing in Edinburgh last week, the club was granted access to tax records of Cairney and Boys Club founder Jim Torbett in a bid to prove the convicted paedophiles didn't work for them.

Andy was repeatedly targeted by predator Cairney when he was just 15 years old while playing for the feeder club in the 70s.

He has now said he just wants people to know the truth about what happened to children at the closely linked Boys Club in a bid to get "closure".

He said: "Celtic FC need to do the right thing now. We're not storytellers. What we're saying happened, happened. They're not spurious stories.

"You're not going to invent something like that. It's just a cover up.

"I don't know how it was investigated (previously) because it was going on right under their noses.

"It would just give me some closure to know that all the Celtic fans who have followed them for all the years knew the truth. That's all. The full truth. That's all I want out of it
