Drink drive ambulance driver back at work

AN AMBULANCE driver was caught drink driving at a hospital as he loaded up a vehicle with patients.

Alan Cuthill, 49, from Stenhousmuir, was convicted of the offence on October 6 but while he was awaiting his court case he was allowed to continue his work with the ambulance service but not allowed to drive.

And it is understood, despite his conviction, he returned to work on Monday. He will only act as a crew member, however, because of his ban.

An ambulance source said Cuthill was suspected of having consumed alcohol on May 25 and management were informed.

The source claimed: "Management decided they would try to catch him after he drove the ambulance to Falkirk Community Hospital on May 26.

"The area service manger was there as they were loading up patients to take home."
