Spurned lover faces jail after admitting smashing car at speed into office in bid to kill former partner
Victim told court how ex-boyfriend would 'kick off' and assault her when she tried to end relationship
William McBurnie, 57, scarred 46-year-old Zoe Turnbull for life and caused serious harm to her pensioner mother Beverly in the horror incident at her funeral directors business in the Borders town of Jedburgh in December 2022.
McBurnie pleaded guilty to the attempted murders of both women at the High Court in Livingston yesterday.
Terrifying CCTV footage of the attack shows McBurnie accelerating towards his ex-lover's premises at speed.
His car is seen mounting the pavement before smashing through Zoe's office window while the women were trapped inside, destroying the interior of the property The chilling footage also shows Zoe and her 71-year-old mum diving away from the car and pinning themselves against the walls as McBurnie's vehicle ploughs into a desk - where Zoe had been sitting seconds earlier.
The court heard how the mother and daughter were able to dodge the vehicle just in time after Zoe spotted McBurnie outside.
