LIVERPOOL..5 WEST HAM..1
So much for the idea that Dominik Szoboszlai is struggling at Liverpool.
The great and good of Merseyside, from Phil Thompson to Jamie Carragher and from Graeme Souness to John Aldridge, berated him for his performance in the goalless draw with Manchester United.
Aldridge said the summer arrival was having a "torrid time. But Szoboszlai answered them in the only way he knows how with another screamer that helped book Liverpool's place in the semi-finals of the League Cup for a record 19th time and a clash with Fulham.
The Hungary skipper fired home from 25 yards and his showreel finish put Liverpool on their way to an eighth successive home win over outclassed West Ham.
Boss Jurgen Klopp said: "The boys enjoyed it a lot, they worked hard but enjoyed it too with joyful football in moments.
"We were brave in our positioning, our second-ball game was exceptional. It was a really good performance from start to finish."
