I have been dispatched to the Pleasure Beach to have a go on the 3295ft wooden ride that officially opened on August, 23, 1923.
For its centenary, the Big Dipper has had a “glow-up”, with a new paint job and track improvements.
I am in the front carriage as we chug up to the iconic onion dome. And then, we’re off, careering down at up to 34mph.
