HUD LUCK STORY

THE remarkable rollercoaster ride through life of Matthew Hudson-Smith got its silver lining on the Paris track last night.

The Team GB star saw golden glory agonisingly snatched from his grasp by American Quincy Hall in a thrilling 400m final.

Hall produced a stunning fightback in the dying stages to deny Hudson-Smith..

But the American's refusal to give up when it mattered most felt like a reflection of the career of the man he pipped to glory.

Because despite HudsonSmith coming up short in a race he was favourite to win, he should wake up this morning still feeling like a true champion.

Few athletes have been through what he has to make it to these Games. His chosen event is regarded as the most painful one in track and field.

But when it comes to suffering, having to run one, lung-busting lap of the track, is nothing compared to what he's been through.
