KYLE Falconer has revealed he overdosed months after he was arrested and charged for a drunken air-rage incident on a plane in 2016.
The Scots rocker - who took tablets, had a seizure and woke up in hospital - admits the frightening realisation he nearly died was a turning point in his life.
Kyle, 36, whose fiancée Laura Wylde was pregnant with their first child at the time, said realising what he could have lost was the wake-up call he needed.
The View frontman makes the heartbreaking revelation in a new documentary, Love and Chaos, which explores the euphoric highs and devastating lows of his rock 'n' roll romance with Laura.
In the BBC Scotland programme, which goes out on Monday, Kyle also revealed:
- He was supposed to sing at actor Martin Compston's wedding the day after he got arrested on the Jet2 flight; He doesn't know why he loses control but admits there are "wee gremlins" in his head;
- The death of his parents when he was young has had a huge impact on his mental health;
- He lost control when he punched band mate Kieren Webster on stage;
- Becoming a dad has been his salvation.
After the air-rage incident in 2016, when he hurled a homophobic insult at cabin crew, was fined £14,000 and banned from the airline for life, Kyle checked himself into a rehab centre in Thailand to treat his drug and alcohol problems.
The therapy opened an emotional can of worms and when he returned home to Dundee he panicked about how he was going to cope with his issues and life in the music industry sober.
