Rahm on benefits of being Spaniard in Scotland after Euros final
CRAIG SWAN
I got more congrats for something that I didn't do than I have ever had in my life!

JON RAHM admits he’s felt like an honorary Scotsman at Royal Troon after Spain’s success over England.

The Basque hero didn’t want football to “come home” as he sat beside Ryder Cup mate Tyrrell Hatton watching the action unfold from Berlin.

Rahm knows there were a good few Scots sporting fans who also didn’t want to see Gareth Southgate’s side succeed at Euro 2024.

However, given the fact he didn’t have any part to play, it’s offered amusement at getting pats on the back in Ayrshire for the work of his countrymen.

Rahm said: “I noticed that yesterday (Monday), I played all 18 holes and I think I got more congratulations for something that I didn’t do than I ever have in my life!

“I don’t know what they’ve done, but anytime anybody plays against the English national team, every other country in Europe just unifies against them. I don’t know why or what they’ve done. I’m not aware of the history.

“I think because we’ve heard ‘It’s Coming Home’ so many times the last few years, that nobody wants to see it come home at this point.

“I didn’t know it was a song until Tyrrell showed me last Wednesday. So I really didn’t know the whole history about it.
