A SCOTTISH Westminster researcher who has been arrested on suspicion of spying for China has spoken out claiming he is “completely innocent”.
The man said he has spent his “career to date trying to educate others about the challenge and threats presented by the Chinese Communist Party.”
The man, who is in his late 20s, was arrested in March under the Official Secrets Act amid allegations of spying on behalf of Beijing alongside a man in his 30s. The news of his arrest only became public on Sunday.
The former Edinburgh private schoolboy is a rugby fan and the son of a GP, whose family home is in a leafy suburb in the south of Edinburgh.
