IT'S JACK TO THE FUTURE

JACK MCDONALD will walk in the footsteps of family after joining Justin Rose at The Open on a day time ran out on Sergio Garcia's hopes of featuring.

The Barassie member will tee it up at Royal Troon two weeks tomorrow, having won a play-off at Dundonald.

While Ryder Cup star Rose delivered after 36 holes in Somerset, McDonald's birdie saw off Swede Tim Wilding and fellow Scot Daniel Young.

The 31-year-old has been walking his dog next to the links course and will now step on to its fairways.

Grandad Gordon Cosh, a former Walker Cup star and Scottish Amateur champion, played at the 1977 Open at Turnberry.
