DUNCAN SCOTT was in seventh heaven last night after anchoring the British men to retain their Olympic men’s 4x200m freestyle title in a demolition job in the pool.

The 27-year-old became the first Scot to strike gold at Paris 2024 with a stunning last leg that sealed victory in 6:59.43.

He was set up perfectly by James Guy, Tom Dean and Matt Richards who all sat in first place after their legs.

But it was Scott who took them home for his seventh Olympic medal and the perfect rebound from his individual 200m disappointment 24 hours before. And Scott, who swam an impeccable anchor leg in 1min 43sec – faster than the winning time in tmuchneededhe individual event – now joins cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy on seven Olympic career medals.
