PM lets pro-Palestine demo go ahead

MARCHING ORDERS

RISHI Sunak held crisis talks with London's police chief yesterday but was forced to concede that a pro-Palestinian demonstration will go ahead on Armistice Day.

The Prime Minister summoned Met Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley to discuss the "disrespectful" rally calling for a Gaza ceasefire but later admitted the Government will take no further action.

Keir Starmer was also dealt a blow after Labour frontbencher Imran Hussain quit over the leadership's refusal to demand a ceasefire.

Rowley has resisted political pressure to try to block Saturday's march. He said intelligence on the potential for serious disorder did not meet the threshold to prohibit the march.
