JEMMA REEKIE reckons she's back in contention for medals in the next month's World Championships after a brilliant 800 metres victory at yesterday's London Athletics Meet.

The Scot went for broke from the front and took advantage of rival Keely Hodgkinson's late withdrawal to clock a season's best of 1:57.30 that shattered the meeting record.

After glandular fever last year knocked Reekie's form off the level that took her to fourth at the Tokyo Olympics, a change of coach to Brighton-based Jon Bigg has her flying once more.

And Reekie said: "I was disappointed Keely wasn't in the race but I tried to just focus on myself. I'm in the best place I could be, happiness and training wise so there's nothing to lose in Budapest now, I'll be going there to chase a medal.
