DIARMUID O’CARROLL got the better of his gaffer at golf on Monday but admits when it comes to being football-obsessed, Stephen Robinson is hard to beat.
St Mirren’s managerial double act had a rare day off at The Carrick after having their high-flying players in for training on Saturday and Sunday in preparation for tonight’s clash with Hibs.
Even then, No.2 O’Carroll admitted there was more football than golf chat as they made their way round the banks of Loch Lomond.
“I beat him by a point on Monday!” he grinned.
“It was nice to get out, he had a gift and brought me along so fair play to him.
“It was a nice day for it. I used to let him win when I was with the Under-18s or the reserves – but now I’m the assistant I can do what I want and keep him where he should be!
“That was probably good management from him as well, keeping his staff happy.
“I managed to get the same handicap as him, that was the biggest battle!
