Scots student and mum will make record-breaking flight into space after winning Virgin competition
OVER THE MOON

A STUDENT at a Scottish university is set to make history when she and her mum become the first West Indians to enter space.

Anastatia Myers, who is in her second year at Aberdeen University, and mum Keisha Schahaff will be pioneers for the Caribbean when they take off from New Mexico on Thursday.

Keisha won the places on Virgin Galactic's second commercial flight in a prize draw as she was flying to London to help her daughter resolve a visa issue.

Keisha was on a Virgin Atlantic flight from her native Antigua when an advert popped up. She filled out the sweepstake and months later learned she was a winner.

"Suddenly, who's walking into my yard? Richard Branson," she said. "The whole team just swarmed into my house saying: "You're the winner, you're going to space."
