PLEAS FOR ESCAPE ROUTE: Stranded as battle rages

BRITS have been left high and dry in war-torn Sudan as diplomats were whisked away to safety yesterday.

The country continues to be rocked by fighting which has seen hundreds killed.

PM Rishi Sunak announced UK staff were plucked to safety in a dramatic operation thought to have involved the SAS.

However, other British nationals remain in the country and have been urged to stay indoors.

Official numbers of those left trapped is increasing as more follow advice to register with the Foreign Office.
