Johnson splashes out on pool at £3.8m mansion.. after we pay his legal bill

BORIS Johnson has sparked outrage with plans to build a swimming pool at his new mansion after taxpayers footed his £245,000 legal bill for the Partygate probe.

The disgraced former prime minister - who quit as an MP last month ahead of a Commons report that found he lied over Covid rule-breaking - paid £3.8million in May for the Cotswolds pile.

And he has now filed for consent to build a 35ft by 13ft outdoor pool at the moated manor house.

Lib Dem deputy leader Daisy Cooper said: "If Boris Johnson can afford to pay for a swimming pool, surely he could have paid his own legal fees for the Partygate inquiry?
