THE number of road traffic officers in Police Scotland has fallen to its lowest level in the last five years, data obtained by the Scottish Conservatives shows.
Full-time roles fell from 567.7 in 2019 to 518 at the end of June, according to figures revealed under freedom of information laws.
The force's overall officer numbers fell to their lowest level since 2008 in June, though they rose later in the year.
Justice Secretary Angela Constance said she expects the overall number of officers to reach 16,600 this week.
