TIGER WOODS dubbed it a "rusty" return that left him sore "everywhere" as the legend teed it up proper for the first time in almost eight months.

The 15-time Major champion posted a three-over 75 at the Hero World Challenge after dropping four shots in three holes between the 15th and 17th in the Bahamas.

Not since withdrawing from the Masters in April had Woods played competitively, undertaking ankle surgery in the spell since.

The ankle pain he had before may have gone - the same cannot be said for his knees and back but the 47-year-old was left feeling sore after falling away from 15 on the way in.

Asked what he got out of his game, he said: "I hit a lot of shots! "I was rusty, I didn't have my feels and conditions were tough early.

"I hung through there and I did not finish off my round the way I needed to. Consequently it kind of went sideways at the end.

"The middle part of my round, there was a select commitment and it kind of carried over into some of the final holes. I didn't commit over some of the final shots.
