LIAM SCALES believes his exposure to Champions League football with Celtic can help cement his standing as an Ireland international.

And the centre-back – flying high after a stellar season – feels ready to shackle Cristiano Ronaldo tonight when the Boys in Green face Portugal in Aveiro.

Ireland are in buoyant form after last week’s friendly win over Euro 2024-bound Hungary in Dublin, with Scales impressing as a half-time sub.

For Portugal, this is their final warm-up before the Euros and potentially 39-year-old Ronaldo’s final international on home soil.

But Scales is ready to spoil their send off and Ronaldo’s farewell, with the global star primed for this game after sitting out the recent friendlies with Croatia and Finland.
