ANIMAL activists have warned efforts are being made to "hoodwink" the Scottish Government over lethal snares.
A consultation looks likely to ban the traps, which cause agonising deaths for animals.
But charities League Against Cruel Sports and One Kind believe Scottish environment minister Gillian Martin may have been won over by intense lobbying by landowners to licence "humane cable restraints" in place of snares. They claim the devices are the same.
