Special brew can leave our rivals reeling

GREGOR TOWNSEND is confident his squad can create "something special" at the World Cup after they ended their warm-up games with a comfortable win over Georgia on Saturday.

Scotland will face reigning champions South Africa in their first World Cup pool match a week on Sunday.

The Springboks inflicted a record 35-7 defeat on New Zealand on Friday and Scots head coach Townsend knows they will be an extremely tough test.

But after home wins over Italy and France and a narrow away defeat to the World Cup hosts, he's backing his side to upset the odds against South Africa and top-ranked Ireland on the big stage.
