TONY DOCHERTY hailed his Dens frontmen Zach Robinson and Diego Pineda for finding their shooting boots to set up a final-day showdown with Inverness.
The Dark Blues were left up against it in the Viaplay Cup after a shock weekend defeat at Airdrie but bounced back in style at home to Dumbarton.
A double from Robinson and a first for Mexican Pineda were enough to see off Steve Farrell's men, who had levelled through Tony Wallace.
It is likely Airdrie will beat Bonnyrigg in the final game to top Group E and Dundee just need to beat Caley Thistle at home then hope for a shock or that nine points are enough to go through as one of the best second-place teams.
Dens gaffer Docherty said: "It was great to see both of them scoring. I was really pleased for Diego, he's only just arrived in the country and is still acclimatising. You saw his quality and he linked up well with Zach Robinson.
"It was a good performance as Dumbarton are a stuffy team but our professionalism shone through.
