PEP GUARDIOLA blasted “stupid” claims runaway champions Manchester City will canter to the title again next season – and warned buying the hype could cost them a dream treble.
In the 48 hours since sealing a fifth Premier League title in six years, there’s been sky-high praise for a squad moving miles clear of the opposition.
But Guardiola blasted theories City are becoming unstoppable, insisting they could yet fall flat against Manchester United and Inter Milan in their chase for the FA Cup and Champions League crowns.
He said: “Comments like ‘Manchester City can just go out and win the Premier League next season’ are stupid.
“Next season will be tough because all the clubs want to beat us. That’s the challenge. We have to defend our crown.
“It belongs to us for one year and we will work for it. If they want it, they have to do it better than us. But if that happens that is part of the sport and we will congratulate them.
