PM survives Rwanda vote headache but it could still be sunk next month

RISHI Sunak’s Rwanda law could still be sunk next month, despite him winning a Commons vote last night. 

The PM was warned rebel Tories will kill the Bill unless he hardens it up, with 29 MPs abstaining in a major revolt.

One former minister said: “He’s a dead man walking. He will limp on to January, but he won’t survive the year.”

The vote passed by 313 votes to 269, with the major revolt coming despite MPs not having permission to be absent.

A Tory plotter warned Downing Street was in trouble and added: “They’re f****d. They’ve kicked the problem to January.”

Sunak also came under fire over his obsession with a deportation policy that critics branded a costly gimmick while millions of Britons struggle with the cost of living crisis.

Labour’s Yvette Cooper yesterday warned No10 was paralysed by bitter infighting.

The Shadow Home Secretary told the Commons: “The Prime Minister says his patience is wearing thin. How do the Tories think the country feels when watching this chaos?
