Terrorists, stalkers & eco-protests

SECURITY chiefs are facing an unprecedented number of threats from terrorists, anarchists and eco-warriors looking to disrupt the King's Coronation.

Royal protection officers have been gathering intelligence on established terror groups, including dissident republicans in Northern Ireland, and "fixated individuals", but they are also monitoring peaceful protesters.

The Record's sister paper the Mirror revealed forces in England have been filming and profiling anti-monarchist campaigners over fears they will target the ceremony on May 6.

In recent weeks, the King and Queen Consort have been targeted by individuals throwing eggs during walkabouts in York and Luton, and faced protests by campaign group Republic in Milton Keynes, Chichester and York.

Republic and environmental groups such as Just Stop Oil are under surveillance for fear they will use the coronation to publicise their cause.

Graham Smith, of Republic, said the findings of police surveillance were "chilling".
