Three die after doc fails to do follow-up

THREE patients died after a doctor failed to do proper followups on colonoscopy procedures.

NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde (NHSGGC) yesterday revealed a clinical review into patients who had a colonoscopy between 2020 and 2022 performed by one of its consultants.

The health board refused to name the doctor at the centre of the scandal, citing data protection legislation. But it said the review identified six patients who had "suffered harm" by not being followed up appropriately and that three of them had died.

Labour's health spokeswoman Jackie Baillie said: "It is shocking this has been allowed to happen and patients have lost their lives as a result. These are unforgivable mistakes.
