Tories have Jacked it in on refinery jobs

TORY ministers have been blasted by a leading trade union for "failing to protect jobs" at closurethreatened Grangemouth oil refinery.

Unite hit out at Alister Jack, the Scottish Secretary, for failing to meet with some of the 500 workers who could lose their jobs if owner Petroineos presses forward with plans to convert the refinery into an import depot.

The energy firm - a partnership between Ineos and the Chinese government announced last year that it expects to close the refinery by spring 2025.

The wider Grangemouth industrial site, including the petrochemical plant, would continue as normal.
