NICOLA Sturgeon believes a transgender double rapist is "almost certainly" claiming to be a woman as an "easy way out", she told MSPs.

The SNP leader was repeatedly pressed at First Minister's Questions on the case of Bryson - previously known as Adam Graham - who was convicted at the High Court in Glasgow last month of two rapes.

Bryson was sent to women's jail Cornton Vale near Stirling before the Government stepped in and then transferred her to Edinburgh's Saughton Prison after a public outcry.
