NEARLY four in five Scots back outlawing disposable vapes, survey has a found.

It comes as new research links the single-use gadgets to a surge of blazes in bin lorries and at waste processing plants.

The YouGov poll of 6588 Brits on July 17 found 77 per cent of adults in Scotland either strongly or somewhat support a ban on the products - with identical figures for the UK as a whole.

It follows councils in England and Wales last week throwing their weight behind a nationwide ban. In Scotland, 28 of the 32 local authorities support a ban.

Now polluting disposable vapes have been blamed for rocketing rates of fires on refuse lorries, which have soared by nearly two thirds.
