HUMZA Yousaf has held talks with a New York health tsar over the city's drug consumption rooms.
The First Minister said evidence from the US showed lives had been saved as he confirmed plans for a facility in Glasgow.
The SNP administration has long-supported safe consumption rooms as a way of cutting drug deaths but a row with the UK Government held up the move.

She said if a facility was opened, it would "not be in the public interest to prosecute individuals for possession.
The pilot could be up and running within months.
