IAN MCCALL insists he has inherited a shambles at Clyde with time running out on trying to steer them towards SPFL survival.

The former Partick Thistle boss accepted the challenge of reviving the fortunes of one of Scottish football's historic institutions as the Bully Wee sit bottom of League Two.

A Scottish Cup third-round clash against East of Scotland Premier League side Jeanfield Swifts is next up tonight.

And firefighting against the odds is nothing new for McCall, with one of the early jobs in his distinguished career coming when he took over an Airdrie team hurtling towards liquidation in 2001.

He said: "I do like a challenge and it does go back to Clyde actually meaning something in Scottish football.
